Baby Kicks Dads Butt
|
Last night was a very active night for our little boy. He decided
that since we were going to sleep, he would start kicking. This
is normally not a bad thing for dad, except this time dad had
his back to mom's stomach and the baby was kicking him. This went
on for some time and quickly lost it's appeal to dad. Mom was
quoted as saying "now you know why I don't get much sleep".
Dad now sleeps on the couch. OK, he still sleeps in bed but not
quite so close to mom anymore. However, sometimes mom gets close
to dad just for fun.

January 8, 2002 - Pregnancy
Glucose Test
|
It that time of the pregnancy when the mother must take a Glucose
test. If you have never taken this test before, you are a very
lucky person. Just ask Angela, she almost failed it. Actually,
you can't fail the test, but it's not a fun one. On an empty stomach,
you have to drink an 8 oz glass of carbinated sugar water in 5
minutes (it tastes like orange soda). An hour later, spent at
the hospital cause they don't let you leave, you have your blood
drawn and they do some tests on it to see if you have diabetes.
The nurse who drew Angela's blood was either inexperienced or
nervous. It took her 8 tries to get the blood. She was thinking
that Angela might have to come back and do the whole thing over
again if she could not get the blood in a few more minutes, as
the drink would have worn off by then. Angela is glad to have
the ordeal overwith, but has many holes in both her arms and some
of them may be brusing.

Hospital Visit
|
Angela was not feeling well this morning, so we decided to stay
home from church. She soon started to throw-up, so we called the
hospital. They suggested that we come in, but decided to wait
and see if it would pass. That afternoon, Angela was still not
feeling well and still throwing up. We went to the hospital around
5 pm and they did a bunch of tests. While at the hospital, Angela
had 2 IV's and was feeling much better. The tests all came back
pretty normal, so they let us go home. It appears that Angela
had caught the flu. Everything is ok now, and mom and baby are
doing great.

CHRISTMAS!
|
Christmas was really this year, especially for the baby. He got
more presents than Angela and Justin combined. Most of his presents
were clothes, but he also received his first toy and a bunch of
blankets. We also got him some bedding for his crib and a stroller.
With all this new baby stuff, our house is begining to look like
a baby lives here. We can't wait!

Great New Ultrasound Picutres
|
After having a bad experience at the hospital, we were invited
back so they could make it up to us. Angela went in for another
ultrasound and was told the baby is in great shape. The measurements
taken put our baby at 24 weeks and 2 days. We also got some more
pictures and put them in the ultrasound
page. My favorite is the one where he looks like a teddy bear.

He Kicks
|
Tonight, Angela told me that she could feel the baby moving,
so I put my hand on her belly and a few seconds later, he kicked
me! Today is the first time I have felt him kick at all. I guess
he must really be in there. Angela said she has been feeling him
moving and kicking mostly at night. Looks like he will be a night
owl just like his daddy.

It's Official: It's A Boy!
|
|

We finally tricked our baby into letting us know it's gender.
This time we went in for an ultrasound right after lunch and he
wasn't expecting it at all. The ultrasound technician put the
wand thing on Angela's belly and we had a clear shot. He is definitely
a boy!

More Ultrasounds, Very Modest Baby
|
|
O.K. We went in for another ultrasound today and here's the story.
We went to the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo for
our appointment at 1:00. The doctors were all out at lunch and
were unable to see us until about 1:20. First a nurse measured
our baby's head and body and said we are exactly 19 weeks. A doctor
then came in and checked all the important stuff. Heart, lungs,
kidneys. Everything looks great and it appears that our baby is
healthy. Our baby is very modest, however, and kept it's legs
crossed during the entire ultrasound so we do not know yet if
our baby is a boy or a girl.
Our doctor then left the room and we were waiting to get a picture
or to be told we should clean up and go. After a few minutes,
we decided to get Angela cleaned up and we went out to find someone.
Nobody was around and we finally found a receptionist. She called
the doctor to make sure we were done but didn't check to get us
a picture. We were pretty disapointed in the treatment we recieved
from the hospital staff so we left.
On the way home, we decided to go to Prenatal Photos in Univeristy
Mall. The people there were great and were able to get a few pictures
for us and even some video of another ultrasound. We still couldn't
determine if our baby is a boy or girl, but they said we could
come back as many times as we need to to find out. Feel free to
look at the pictures we currently have up. We are trying to get
our video online as well. As soon as we find out our baby's gender,
we'll let you know.

Third Doctor's Appointment
|
|
We had another doctor's appointment today. The doctor said everything
looks good and he let us listen to the baby's heartbeat. Nice
strong heart! We also scheduled another ultrasound for November
13. So check back then to find out if we are having a boy or a
girl!

October 4, 2002 - The
Family Knows
|
|
Today we finally told our famlies that we are expecting. We were
able to keep it from just about everyone but we are too excited
to hold it in anymore.
We had many ideas about how to break the news, and ended up showing
everyone a magic trick that gave a big clue at the end. If you
would like to see the trick, maybe I'll show it to you sometime.

1, 2002 - Second Doctor's Appointment |
|
Angela had her second doctor's appointment today. The doctor found
that the baby's heartrate has slowed down considerably (down to
a much better rate). Now we may be having a boy. I guess you never
can tell.
We were told to expect the baby to be born on April 14, 2002.
Mark your calendars!

3, 2002 - First Ultrasound |
|

We had an ultrasound
done today to determine exactly how old our baby is and when we
should expect birth. The baby is 8 weeks old and should be born
in April. We also found the baby's heartrate to be pretty high
so we may be having a girl.

everything looks normal and assured us there is nothing to worry
about. We will have an ultrasound done sometime next week.

7, 2002 - We Are Pregnant! |
We just found out today that Angela is pregnant. We are so excited.
Angela has been feeling that she could be pregnant for a week or
two, but now we know for sure.
